How to Choose an Indoor Golf Club in York Region
A practical buyer’s guide to picking an indoor golf club in Aurora, ON, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, King City, Markham, and Vaughan — from someone who runs one.
May 22, 2026 · Club X Indoor Golf
There are now a dozen indoor golf options across York Region, and they are not all the same. A $15-per-hour bay rental and a $329-per-month coached membership are different products. Picking the right one starts with knowing what you actually want to do.
This guide is written from the operator side. The questions below are the ones we wish every walk-in asked before signing up anywhere.
Question 1: Are You Practicing, Playing, or Hosting?
Indoor golf splits into three jobs:
- Practicing to improve. You want measurable data, repeat reps on driver and irons, and ideally a coach watching. The simulator system matters here — TrackMan is the most accurate launch monitor available; photometric systems (Uneekor, Foresight) are close but not the same.
- Playing for fun. You want famous courses, multiplayer support, a good screen, and a comfortable lounge. The launch monitor accuracy matters less. The course library matters more.
- Hosting an event. You want enough bays for your group, a real lounge, bar service, and a host who runs the night. Most indoor sim rentals cannot do this — they are bay-only with no service infrastructure.
If you do not know which job you are after, you will likely sign up for the wrong product. Most casual visitors think they are “playing” but actually want to improve — they leave a pure-play sim disappointed because the data was missing.
Question 2: What Launch Monitor Does the Bay Run?
There are five common systems in York Region indoor golf:
- TrackMan 4 — dual-radar, the most accurate, used by the PGA Tour. Rare in retail sim rooms (most clubs run Bay 1 TrackMan only, like Club X).
- Uneekor EYE XO / QED — photometric (camera-based), highly accurate, very popular in serious sim rooms.
- GSPro + photometric pairing — software platform paired with a launch monitor (usually Uneekor or Foresight). Great visuals.
- Foresight GCQuad — premium photometric, common in club fittings.
- Garmin R10 / Mevo+ — consumer-grade. Fine for casual play, not reliable for coaching or fittings.
If the website does not name the launch monitor, assume it is consumer-grade. Real clubs name their hardware because it matters to serious golfers.
Question 3: Is There a Coach On-Site?
The biggest difference between a sim rental and a sim club is whether someone is there to teach. Renting bay time is cheap; coaching is what changes your golf.
If you are looking to improve, ask:
- Does the club have at least one named, credentialed coach? (NCAA background, PGA cert, Director of Golf title.)
- Are lessons run on TrackMan or just a basic launch monitor?
- Can you see the coach’s lesson availability, or is it “DM us”?
Club X has a Director of Golf on staff — a former NCAA golfer at Missouri State — running TrackMan-measured lessons in Bay 1. Most sim rentals in the corridor have no on-site coach — they are bay-rental businesses, not golf clubs.
Question 4: What Are the Real Hours?
Most indoor sim places advertise “open 24/7” but really mean members can book unmanned bays around the clock. Walk-ins are usually 6 AM to 12 AM, or shorter.
Questions worth asking:
- What hours can a non-member walk in?
- Are coached lessons available outside daytime hours?
- Is the bar staffed when you want to be there, or only on weekends?
At Club X: public hours are 6 AM to 12 AM, 7 days. Members get 24/7 access via Kisi access codes. Bar (in-season, Oct–April) is staffed Mon–Thu by reservation · Fri 3–10 PM · Sat 12–9 PM · Sun 12–6 PM. Year-round AGCO-licensed bar service for private events.
Question 5: What Does Membership Actually Get You?
Membership pricing in York Region indoor golf ranges from $99/mo to $399/mo. The big variables are:
- Hours included. Some tiers cap you at 5 hrs/week (Club X Social: $149); others give 7-day unlimited (Club X Players: $229).
- Which bays you can use. Bay-restricted tiers are cheaper; all-bay tiers are pricier. Bay 1 with TrackMan is typically locked behind the higher tier.
- Booking window. 7 days out, 10 days, 14 days — matters more than you think when you want a Saturday morning slot.
- Coaching discounts. Players get 10% off lessons at Club X; Elite gets 15%. Adds up fast if you take lessons regularly.
- Guest passes. 1 to 2 per month is normal. Useful when friends want to try it.
If you are unsure whether to pay-per-bay or join as a member, run the math on our membership calculator — it takes 30 seconds and shows you the actual breakeven point.
Question 6: Where Is It, and How Long Is the Drive?
Indoor golf is a “frequency” product — the value compounds when you go regularly. If the club is 30+ minutes away, you will go half as often as you think.
Practical drive times to Club X from across York Region:
- Aurora — 0 to 10 minutes (Club X home base)
- Newmarket — 10 minutes south on Yonge
- Richmond Hill — 15 minutes north on Yonge
- King City — 12 minutes east via King Road
- Markham — 25 minutes north via Hwy 404
- Vaughan — 25 minutes east via Hwy 400
- Stouffville — 20 minutes west via Bloomington Sideroad
- Bradford — 20 minutes south on Yonge
If your nearest indoor club is 35+ minutes away, the membership math has to be very favorable to be worth it.
Question 7: Can You See Real Reviews?
Look at Google reviews, not the testimonials on the website. Specifically check:
- Total review count (volume matters more than rating)
- Rating distribution (4.9★ from 100 reviews beats 5.0★ from 5 reviews)
- How recently the most recent reviews are
- Whether the operator responds to negative reviews
Club X currently has 100+ Google reviews at 4.9★. We answer every review, especially the critical ones. Read all reviews on Google.
What to Do Next

For first-time visitors: the $79 Summer Swing Check is purpose-built for this. 60 minutes on TrackMan in Bay 1 with our Director of Golf. Money back if you leave without a clear fix. First-time visitors only.
